Red Rubber Catheters
A Red Rubber catheter or Robinson catheter is used to insert into a patients bladder to drain urine. The soft, red rubber catheter is an intermittent catheter and is only left in for a short time, unlike a standard Foley catheter which is left in for an extended period of time. The red rubber catheter is very flexible and more pliable than a ridged PVC catheter. Red rubber catheters contain latex giving it a softer feel. This type of catheter makes for a more comfortable catheterization experience for most people.
Who uses this type of catheter?
The red rubber catheter can be used by both men and women who need a more flexible type of catheter. It should only be used one time and not reused.
